Co-participatory multimodal intergenerational storytelling: Preschool children’s relationship with modality creating elder inclusion

The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted elderly people as a vulnerable and excluded community, connecting to the younger social media generation requires shift in intergenerational storytelling performance. Recent research on multimodality emphasized its benefits for interactional process storytelling. This study examines three aspects of – participation, multimodality, emotional interaction uses co-creation multimodal discourse analysis investigate two questions: (1) To what extent can benefit older people’s community engagement? (2) In globalized world, how do children’s relationships with modalities create new lifelong learning opportunities elders? Qualitative data were collected from pre- post-session discussions six sessions, video recordings made by participants, artwork created children after each session. results reveal that participants had adapt their storytelling, preferred co-participatory (3) preschool elders’ well-being.
